Is Redondo Beach California a good location to stay while vacationing around LA?

We will be spending some days in San Diego and then heading up north. We will be visiting the baseball stadiums (LA and Anaheim) but also want to be near some beaches. We will have a rental car to explore the area. Wondering if the Torrence/Redondo Beach is a nice area.

What is the driving time from Los Angeles to Long Beach on a sunday afternoon?

I’ll be traveling by car to Long Beach from LA on a sunday afternoon (sometime between 12-2pm) and am wondering how much time it will take me to get there. Does anyone know also how much time will it take me to get from Long Beach to San Diego with sunday traffic? Please advise.

I’m envisioning a pretty, picture post-card town on the ocean with a nice public beach that lies anywhere between Santa Barbara and San Diego. A real beauty to the eye. Can you think of a California beach town that fits this description?

What is the beach in southern California where you can sunbathe with seals?

I was googling exciting day trips in southern California and found information about a public beach below San Diego (I think), where seals tend to show up to sunbathe. I didn’t save the page and can’t find it now. Anyone know the spot?
