Pebble Beach to some golfers is the most beautiful golf getaway spot in the United States of America which is located in between the Delmont Forest which is next to a great view of the ocean. This golf course is not only famous for becoming one of the most gorgeous golf courses in the entire world. It is also recognized as one of the most expensive golf courses on the planet, with the cost reaching a very expensive $495 a game along with an additional $35 cart fee. Morse, the cousin of Samuel Morse the inventor of the telegraph.

When going to Pebble Beach a person can’t simply overlook the finest seventeen mile drive throughout the pine groves and the Monterey coastline of the Del Monte forest. They provide horseback riding that can let you really appreciate its elegance. A few of the golf courses that are offered at are Poppy Hills, Pasatiempo, and Spanish Bay. Poppy Hill was the course they had the AT&T Pro Am Championship. Poppy Hill offers the finest natural forest, as well as excellent sand. Sand that helps identify Pebble Beach as one of the best places to have a tournament which is why Pebble Beach hosts this year’s U.S. open.

At Pebble Beach it is not surprising to see pros playing a couple of rounds. The famous Jack Nicklaus said that “if he had one more round to play it will be at Pebble beach.” That statement Jack made helps you understand why it is one of the best golfing spots in the world. Golf Digest has recently rated it number one for being America’s Greatest Public Course. Along with the starting of a Spa in 2000 and a number of major resorts, this spot not only will be enjoyed by the avid golfers but by their families as well.

So let’s start with the bottom up.

Feet- Play every weekend for an entire summer without any feet protection and you will have come around to what it takes. So what normally what happens from a summer of beach volleyball is your feet develop calluses that end of protecting your feet like a pair of sand socks or aqua shoes. The sands temperatures have been known to eat through normal cotton socks. It is because of the heat and the sand make a tough combination on your standard sock.

Ankles- This all depends on how strong your ankles are after years of jumping and cutting, you may need some addition ankle support in the form of an ankle brace. I have used ones that are easy to put on and off with Velcro, which in turns only offer a medium to low-level stability. I have also used supports that were much more stiff that used a combination of Velcro and laces to give a much higher level of stability, but allowed less movement. Either way you will have to continuously invest in these braces if you need them since the wear and tear of the sand shorten the life expectancy.

Knees- Beach Volleyball is one of those high impact sports that can take a toll on your knees. When played over time the sport can have an effect on your knees even though it’s played on the sand. Although the softer landing surface can extend the careers of some players it also hampers mobility. Having a knee brace(s) can help with the impact of landing awkwardly in the sand, which is very easy to do given that the surface of a beach v-ball court is uneven and soft.

Waist- For men a good pair of shorts can truly help with your mobility. Some men prefer board shorts and others like a looser fitting pair. Regardless of preference you need should be comfortable enough to do yoga in them. What I mean by that is that you want to me able to move in way that you are unencumbered by the shorts you are wearing. Also having a net lining helps let sand escape pockets and other hard to reach areas.

For women a sport bikini or beach volleyball bathing suit is usually preferred. Either usually covers everything that needs should be covered while allowing full comfort and mobility. Other women will go with pair of volleyball spandex and shorts for their apparel of choice.

Chest and Torso- Beach Volleyball Women tend to wear a sport bathing suit top or a volleyball bikini top that is secure and allows for full range of movement. Some women are known to wear tank tops as well.

Male Beach Volleyball players will usually sport no shirt, a tank top, or a t-shirt. If you decide to wear something over your torso, a material that will breathe is highly suggested because of the temperatures that often build up while being on the sand of a beach vball court.

Eyes and Face- If, you do not use sunscreen at the very least put it on your face. Not only will it protect you from the harmful UV rays but will lessen the contrast when you get those “Raccoon Eyes” that the pros get after a long day of being between the beach volleyball lines. It’s basically what a sunglasses tan line looks like.

Head- Name it and beach volleyballers will wear it on their heads. They are often seen with baseball caps, visors, and headbands. I have been to a few tournaments where I have seen some men wear some interesting wigs while playing. There are also some very distinct over sized brimmed visors that are starting to make resurgence from the early 1990’s.

Most beach volleyball equipment and apparel is a preference thing. The main thing is an individual players needs require testing and more testing to get a good feel for your own personal beach volleyball set up.

Beach treasure hunting can be fun and sometime very lucrative. You
can combine a family outing at the beach with treasure hunting on the
beach.

We strongly advise you to have a metal detector with a minimum 6
inch coil. Also make sure the coil is waterproof. We have found some
nice items in a foot of water at the beach.-You want to utilize a
systematic search.

Bring sting, or draw out a square pattern array in the sand.
Search each square. This way you don’t miss a potential find.- A lot
of people use discriminators in treasure hunting. They are excellent
in their own, but I never pass a hit with out scooping the sand after
a hit.

This brings up a little story about using discriminators. I was
searching the beaches of San Diego for the first time. There was a
rugged looking gentleman, using an older model of a metal detector
searching the beaches. He had no discriminator. I watched him for
about 15 minutes hunting. He came on many hits. Most were aluminum
pop taps. I mosey over to strike up a conversation. Dan has searched
the beaches of San Diego for the past 15 years. He indicated he has
been able to pay for his metal detecting hobby just searching
beaches. I told Dan, if he had a newer metal detector with a
discriminator he could save a lot of wasted search time, digging up
bad hits. Dan said, “Oh I don’t mind digging up the junk, it helps
clean the beach and beside, I have all the time in the world, I’m
retired Navy”

Just as he finished that statement he had a strike. I asked him if
I could scan his hit with my unit using discrimination to demonstrate
the saving techneque? Dan said, “sure”. My detector indicated
aluminum caps. Dan said ok, and used his sand scoop to scoop up the
sand containing the hit, There were about 5 can tabs, and low in
behold, in the middle of the tabs was a diamond ladies ring. I turned
off my discriminator for the rest of the beach hunt. I made 4.75
dollars that day for about hour of searching.

Don’t forget to search by walkways, concession stands, grass areas
where people lay out for the sun.

Happy treasure hunting.

If your soccer team is looking for a fun alternative to traditional grass field tournaments, a beach soccer tournament may well be the answer. The game is fun and fast-paced with lots of scoring in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

How to Play Soccer on the Beach

Soccer on sand differs most from soccer on grass in the element of dribbling. Since dribbling on uneven sand is almost impossible, there is a premium on moving the ball through the air. Most shots are either headers, or quick lift and kick-type shots which require some technical skill to pull off. There is an emphasis on attacking play with no offside and no tackling allowed.

Beach Soccer History

Long popular in Brazil, where many of the country’s countless great players first learned to play on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro, beach soccer has been growing in popularity in the United States ever since the early 1990s, when the rules were first formalized. Soon after that, a professional beach soccer tour was established that featured a number of international stars including Eric Cantona, Michel, Romario, Junior and Zico.

FIFA embraced the sport in 2004 and, in 2005, sanctioned the first ever Beach Soccer World Cup. The tournament was played in Brazil, and won by a French team that was coached by Eric Cantona.

Now, even mountainous, land-locked Switzerland has a successful Pro Beach Soccer team, which perhaps shows just how far the sport has come in less than 20 years.

Beach Soccer Rules

Teams usually consist of five players (four plus the goalkeeper) and, because playing in the sand is so strenuous, players substitute on the fly for short shifts. There is no limit to the number of substitutions.

Shoes are not allowed but socks are, as are ankle guards.

Fields are 25 yards by 30 yards (30 x 40 for some of the adult divisions). Goals also vary in size depending on age-group, from 6 feet x 8 fee to 7 feet x 18 feet. When the ball goes out over the side lines, it can be put back into play with either the hands, like a regular throw-in, or with the foot.

Any fouls committed lead to a free kick on goal, which has to be taken by the player who was fouled (unless the kick is awarded for handball, in which case any player can take it).

There are no goal kicks in beach soccer. Keepers have to put the ball back into play with a throw. Games are divided into three 12-minute periods.

Beach Soccer Tournaments

One of the largest beach soccer tournaments in the United States is the North American Sand Soccer Championships, which takes place in Virginia Beach, VA each June. Since its inception in 1994, the tournament has grown from just 28 teams to over 950 teams, which come from all over the US and overseas.

Other big events include the Cape Express Beach Blast in Atlantic City, NJ and the Soccer in the Sand series, which hosts several tournaments all over the US and Canada. While many of the best-known tournaments cater to the traditional soccer demographic of families with soccer-playing children, others cater deliberately to a young adult audience.

Cash prizes in some of the open divisions and sales pitches extolling the wonderful night life a resort has to offer might suggest a twenty-something audience over one where families with young children might feel at home. Whatever your age, though, if you like playing soccer, there is a good chance you will love playing soccer on the beach.

I just came back from a Boy Scout Camping trip and I can tell you that beach cruisers aren’t just for the beach any longer. We left Friday and I was unsure whether to load our Beach Cruisers onto the car because we were running late. My son Bryce loves his Beach Cruiser called “The Sammy Beach Cruiser” and my wife has her favorite Pink 24 inch Beach Cruiser (frame and wheel base is a little smaller to accommodate her 5 foot height) but for me it’s the Chrome Beach Cruiser. I like the extra spokes, bugle horn and the Springer Fork that my bike touts. So we loaded them up.

Camping isn’t what it use to be nowadays. People bring their pets, beach cruisers, electrical string lights and plan picnics within the campout. My wife loves camping so she packs a lunch and we put it in her beach cruisers basket and ride our beach cruisers out along the lake. The kids like to skip rocks along the surface of the water and our dog Max likes to chase the ducks and play with the other dogs.

I have never had a flat on my Beach Cruiser, while camping, but I use thorn resistant Beach Cruiser tires and I carry an extra inner tube just to be on the safe side. I use to ride a Stretch or Limo Beach Cruiser but I found that the “look” wasn’t worth the pain I got in my back after a couple of hours of riding and that the maneuverability of these Stretch Beach Cruisers wasn’t very good. This weekend my son raced another kid on a Stingray Bicycle and trounced him handily. For me, it just showed that nothing is better for basic bicycle riding than the standard Beach Cruiser whether you’re a kid or an adult.

Beach Cruisers were first introduced in the 1930 -1940’s. Beach Cruisers are Bicycles which were/are characterized by a over sized seat, extended handlebars, fenders and typically a basket which attached to the front wheel. Rear Fenders were built with supporting steel rods and sufficient strength to support a picnic basket or a small child. Overtiime as lighter weight material was introduced few fenders were made that could support any weight and their only purpose was to deflect mud or serve as a cosmetic decoration on your Beach Cruiser. However, there are many types of fenders ranging from duck or flip fenders to fenders that wrap

At our retail bike store, many of our customers say they want to purchase a beach cruiser, but they don’t live on the beach. The main question happens to be, “is a beach cruiser just for the beach?” The answer is a big – NO Way!

All riders can enjoy Beach cruisers, whether you live in California, New York, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, or any other state – or country for that matter, if there is a road, a beach cruiser bike is ready to ride on it. This style of bike appeared in the 1930’s and was the predominant style for bicycles through the 1950’s.

The large tires on beach cruisers were originally designed to handle sand on beaches (greater surface area than small tires), but the great side effect is that these tires provide one soft and comfortable ride.

Beach cruiser bikes are not only comfortable, they are also very stylish and can really make a statement about you and your personality. Cruisers are meant to cruiser, and if your riding style is a laid back ride where you can soak up the view, then try one out today.

If you live in a flat area without many hills, a one-speed should work just fine. If you live in a hilly area, or want more of a variety of speeds, you may want to consider a beach cruiser with multiple speeds.

Beach cruisers are taking hold across the land and are no longer just for the beach! You may want to consider a Beach Cruiser for your next bike.

It’s very important that you understand the rules of beach volleyball before you just go out on the sand and start trying to play. Don’t assume that just because you played indoor volleyball in high school or college that you know the how to play sand volleyball. The game is much different and is a different sport entirely.

The one similarity between indoor and outdoor is that passing. If you can pass well you will be a great player on the beach and on the hard court. The difference that you will have to get use to is passing a ball that is lighter, less inflated and slightly larger than the typical indoor ball. You will find that it is easier to pass a ball that is larger and less pumped up. So your passing will not suffer when you make the transition from indoor to beach volleyball.

Let’s take a typical play and dissect it. So you are playing your fist game of beach volleyball, the other team serves the ball and it’s high so you take the serve with your hands, then your partner sets you the ball and you have a blocker up so you tip it over him and get the point. Good job right? NO! You made 2 vital errors that would cost you the point. In sand volleyball you cannot set the serve and you cannot open hand tip the ball. These are 2 of the most often made mistakes made in beach volleyball. Don’t break these rules because they will make you look like a beginner.
