Let’s start with Puerto Vallarta; Puerto Vallarta is Mexico’s beach resort where authentic colonial traditions mix with real resort amenities. Spacious wide Banderas Bay offers 26 miles of beaches. Playa Los Muertos is the most popular public beach in town which abounds with palapa (thatched roof) restaurants, beach volleyball courts and parasailing activities. The beaches of Punta Mita is now the exclusive development north of Vallarta and are of the white-sand variety, with crystal clear waters and coral reefs just right offshore.

Puerto Escondido; This is by far the best overall beach value in Mexico. It’s primarily known for its world-class surfing beach, Playa Zicatela along the surrounding beaches all have their own special appeal with colorful fishing pangas (small boats)dot the central beach. Puerto Escondido offers accommodations at excellent prices, with exceptional budget dining and nightlife and a nice atmosphere.

Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo; This resorts offer travelers the best of both worlds: serenity and resort comforts. If you want the basics the best and most beautiful beach is Playa La Ropa, close to Zihuatanejo. This wide beach at Playa Las Gatas, with its restaurants and snorkeling sites, is also a great place to stay and enjoy. The luxury hotels in Ixtapa, on the next bay over from Zihuatanejo, front Playa Palmar, a fine beach.
