Which hotels are affordable and close to the beach in Oahu?

When my husband and I went to Oahu we stayed at the Wyndham Waikiki Beach Walk which is like a block from the beach; and walking distance to International Marketplace & ABC Store across the street with all other kinds of shops on the same street. My suggestion is to check out craigslist.com and do a search for this hotel (well actually you rent a condo). You can find units for fairly cheap and they have a full kitchen which was great because we fixed a few meals in our own kitchen and that saved us money too while we were there. Here is one listing for this hotel on craigslist.

I highly recommend this place; also if you go on tripadvisor.com you can check out reviews and photos of the hotel from other travelers.

Right across the street from Waikiki Beach with unobstructive views of the ocean (it is located on the strip of Kalakaua Ave where there are no hotels on the beach side of the street) is the Park Shore Hotel. The location is amazing, as it is also right across the street from Kapiolani Park and the Zoo.

This is an older but clean hotel, with great service, gets good reviews for the value.

We stayed at the Coconut Waikiki Best Western, don’t let the best western part make you say no. Very cute retro decor, not expensive and close to strip and beach….less than 3 minutes walk.
