I personally prefer Sugar Mountain.  Beech (not Beach) tends to be much more crowded.  Both places have a lot of things to do and are also near Banner Elk, Boone, etc. for good restaurants, etc.  I don&#039;t think you could go wrong at either place but probably have less waiting hassles in Sugar.
